The OnSiteRx®, Inc. automated order entry system dramatically reduces the number of call backs and faxes between the doctor, nurse and pharmacist.
Automated Formulary Check
Using the OnSiteRx® system, doctors, pharmacist, and nurses have access to patient health records and drug formularies.
By simply typing in the drug, OnSiteRx® will ping the resident’s Med D or insurance plan to determine coverage. If the drug selected is on the patient’s formulary, the nurse will complete the prescription request and send it to the pharmacy for clearing.
If the drug prescribed is not on formulary, the system will offer equivalent choices that are covered, and as a result of this timely determination, the nurse can call the doctor back immediately to gain approval and complete the prescription order.
Automated Drug Utilization Review
After the drug recommendation has cleared the formulary check, the OnSite system conducts an automatic drug utilization review (DUR) against the patient’s allergies and other drugs that they might be taking.
Verification
After these two verifications have been completed, the nurse transmits the order to the pharmacy, where the formulary check and DUR are traditionally conducted.
By performing this at the front end of the prescribing process prior to transmitting the prescription request to the pharmacy, denials and additional follow up is eliminated.
